Bio
:: 无名小卒 ::

Tyr McDohl
Human (magic user) / Chinese decent
46 years old

:: 表里如一 ::

Sexuality - Bisexual- but he tries not to get involved in relationships if he can help it. Too afraid of hurting someone he cares about, he's also aware that his race and lifespan may be an issue should he ever end up caring for someone, or vice versa.

Appearance - Tyr appears to be a sixteen to seventeen year old teenager- but as with most (if not all) people, appearances can be deceiving. Normally dressed in comfortable clothes- clothes that are obviously made for wear, not fashion- he tends to aim to blend into the crowd instead of stand out. His normal outfit simply consists of a red, high collared shirt and beige pants. Having never been one for high fashion, the most formal outfit he carries around is simply a jacket to wear over his usual clothes.

Perhaps the only strange thing about what he wears is that he always has a pair of gloves on every time he goes out in public. Although, really, with fashion being what it is, this normally passes without comment.

He has above average looks for a person around his assumed age- although he's not particularly striking or spectacularly ugly, Tyr has been passing himself off as 'around sixteen' ever since he was sixteen. His short black hair is usually covered by a green bandanna, which he rarely removes, and he is normally seen with a determined expression on his face. He does smile, though- sometimes.

Personality - Usually, Tyr's fairly quiet. He doesn't like attention, and tries to avoid it as and when he's able to. He keeps his head down, preferring to stay either in smaller, out of the way places where few, if anyone knows him, or very large cities, reasoning that with so many people around he'll hardly be very noticeable even if he does come across someone he recognizes. At least, so he usually hopes. Once he starts getting too familiar- or people start recognizing him too easily, he moves on.

He doesn't laugh easily- too much has happened for him to be able to do that- but he appreciates a good joke and does occasionally smile at some hidden irony that only he sees. he's been called 'mature for his age', but that was when the person commenting had assumed he was fifteen- not forty.

Despite being older than he looks, Tyr doesn't act like a person going through a mid-life crisis. He thinks of himself more as a traveler than anything else, and likes meeting new people when he can- although he actively tries not to get too close to any of them, with good reason.

:: 深藏不露 ::

Abilities/Weaponry - Due to his history, Tyr is a skilled combatant in both armed and unarmed combat. He is capable of dispatching or disarming most opponents he would face and is certainly more skilled than the average fighter. However, he is fully aware of the fact that despite his age he still has the build and strength of a sixteen year old- stronger than average, perhaps, but nothing compared to a true adult.

He prefers using a staff that he carries around as his main weapon, having trained in its use since he was a child. However, he has also been trained in the use of most martial arms as well as ranged weapons such as guns, rifles and grenades. He had a decent knowledge of putting together explosives and using them, but as he hasn't actually had any need to construct or dismantle any in a few decades, he's forgotten most of what he knows.

For about half a year or so in his journeys (when he was about thirty) he spent his time under the tutelage of a magician. Tyr supposed that it might not harm him to have a few more abilities, and managed to master some basic spells. He discovered that black magic came the easiest to him, but refused to learn spells of those kind and focused on picking up gray magic instead. The few spells he knows were only the ones he felt would be useful-

He can use a spell to send a person into a deep sleep, ensuring their silence for up to the next six hours should they not be disturbed. The only condition of this is that he has to keep the person in question in his line of sight for the duration of the spell casting. The spell in question takes about a minute or so to cast, however, and isn't very practical in a fight or when he's facing a person. As such he uses it mostly when he needs to leave a particular city or town and doesn't wish for the people he passes to be alerted to his presence.

He is able to cast a spell to detect another person's race- like the spell above, he is required to be able to see the person he casts it on. The spell takes even longer (approximately three minutes) to cast and has to be spoken out loud. Tyr generally finds it very extremely conspicuous and rarely, if ever, bothers to use it, preferring instead the simpler and more direct methods of just observing and asking questions.

He can also cast a simple light spell to illuminate his surroundings. Extremely basic in nature, the spell does nothing but to illuminate an area with a radius of about five meters around Tyr in a soft white light. It lasts for approximately half an hour if he doesn't move around, or ten minutes if he is walking.

Also, Tyr is able to speak well enough in several different languages to pass for native- these include Chinese and English. He also has a basic grasp of several other languages- not well enough to be called truly proficient in them but well enough to get by in most daily situations.

Weaknesses - Unable to actually connect with most people, Tyr is not very well skilled in interpersonal relations. Although he is usually helpful and does try to interact with others, many people come away from him feeling slightly suspicious that he has some sort of other motive- even when he doesn't.

His nature is also one that finds it extremely hard to trust people, regardless of what intention they may have. He thinks of this more as something that he does for the sake of doing- a way of thinking that has kept him generally out of trouble. However, it greatly affects the way he deals with people, as he keeps practically everyone he talks with far at bay from anything personal about him.

Most of the above was due to the curse he bears- Soul Eater- which simply extends his apparent youth- and lifespan- with the death of any person he cares about or loves. He has already lost many people to it, among them his own father. Afraid of losing more people to it, Tyr left his own nation and found himself without a home or any close friends, the lack of which made him more reticent than he ever was to begin with.

With regards to his magical abilities, Tyr is fairly skilled with the spells he knows- mainly thanks to his years of having to use them. However, he's not as proficient as a properly trained magic user, and does tire out when he uses too much of his magic ( e.g. six consecutive light spells) in too short a period of time.

:: 饮水思源 ::

History - Born to Teo McDohl, Tyr grew up as the son of one of the more influential figures in the main Chinese government. His father worked for the military, holding a high position in its top command. As a child, Tyr had little idea of whom his mother was- only that she was not, apparently, around and that he, unlike all the other children he knew, didn't appear to have one. He never questioned his father, simply accepting his word that his mother had died in childbirth as fact.

When he was about seven, he was kidnapped in an apparent attempt to challenge the government's authority. Saved by a soldier- Gremio- who was at that time acting as his bodyguard, Tyr ended up growing very close to the man, treating him almost as a surrogate parent in place of his absent mother. For his part, Gremio became far closer to the boy's family, ending up as a (perhaps overly skilled) cook.

Tyr's life continued in much the same fashion until he was fifteen. At that time, he undertook a few jobs for the military with a close friend of his, Ted. In the course of these, it was discovered that Ted was the bearer of a curse- by the name of Soul Eater- and was in reality far, far older than he had appeared to be. This was seen by another Commander in the military who was with them at the time, and subsequently, Ted was targeted for the curse he bore, under the assumption that he was a danger to the government.

Before he was taken away into custody, Ted passed the curse to Tyr, who accepted it and now bears its mark on his right hand. Afraid of what it meant and also aware that he was now the target that Ted had been, Tyr ran from his home.

He fell in with a group of rebels plotting against the government- the one place he was sure that he would not be found. Trusted by their leader, Tyr was sent out to recruit more members for their cause. However, when he returned, the military had conducted a raid on their headquarters. In the course of this, their leader, Odessa, was killed. Her death awakened the curse, and although Tyr was aware that something had changed, within him, the effects of the curse would not be apparent for many more years.

Still with the rebels, Tyr rose in status among them, eventually leading their campaign against the government. There were many causalities among the battles that ensued- among them, Tyr's father, who died by his own son's hand in battle. It was remarked by many that Tyr was never truly the same after that- but then, the events that had caused him to be as such had started long before that.

The deaths of all those close to him left a large impact on the teenager, and Tyr, unable to accept what he realized he had become, left the country as soon as the rebels had their victory. He was aware that he was easily recognizable, as such he decided to head as far away from his home country as he possibly could.

It was only after three (or perhaps four, he does not remember) years had passed when he realized that he hadn't grown or changed at all since he had started his journey. His clothes still fit him as well as they ever had, his face still bore the appearance of a teenager and he was apparently no physically older than he had been when he had set out. It was ridiculous to call himself a person of twenty when he obviously wasn't, so he ended up adopting the story that he was simply a teenager leaving home for the wider world- which was mostly true, in any case.

Since that time, Tyr has been living the life of a wanderer- never staying for too long in once place for people to realize that he hardly seems to age, never developing close relationships with anyone he meets, simply trying to move away from his past. He came to Allupato with the same attitude he brought with him to every other city: Stay a while, move on, keep going-

But only time may ever tell if he manages to do so.
